What is a ‘Yard?’

The 4.167 mile distance (6.71km) for each hourly loop in a Backyard Ultra is known as a 'yard' in the Backyard Ultra world, and was created as such because it equals 100 divided by 24. Each ‘yard’ is run at the start of each hour, and the distance run in 24 yards (hours) will be 100 miles.
